We are looking for a QA Lead to join our Prequel team. In this role, you will collaborate with our product and engineering teams to build and refine QA processes, adopt new tools, including AI, and ensure seamless, high-quality releases driven by data and metrics.
Prequel (https://prequel.app/) is our main app – a mobile photo and video editor.
This role is for someone with strong people management skills and a process-oriented mindset — someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, tackles challenges head-on, mentors team members, and balances swift release cycles with high standards of quality.
Responsibilities
- Team Management: Lead a team of 5 QA engineers (capacity planning, 1:1s, performance reviews, IDPs, mentoring, and hiring).
- Process Optimization: Design, implement, and oversee QA processes and metrics aligned with business goals.
- Delivery & Prioritization: Collaborate with Product and Engineering to manage team priorities and quickly adapt plans to shifting business needs, ensuring QA never becomes a bottleneck.
- QA Function Development: Build and execute a 3–6 month improvement roadmap (AI adoption, automation, reducing manual testing overhead) while maintaining a team capacity buffer for technical initiatives and learning.
- Data-Driven Approach: Collect and analyze quality and delivery metrics, test hypotheses to improve processes, and stay agile enough to pivot quickly when a hypothesis fails.
Requirements
- People Management: Proven track record of managing a QA team, conducting performance discussions, developing individual team members, and hiring.
- Stakeholder & Process Management: Ability to balance speed, cost, and quality under uncertainty while working in close collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
- Change Management: Ability to translate strategic ideas into an actionable roadmap, effectively communicate the value of changes, and embed new practices into daily workflows.
- QA & Mobile Expertise: Strong understanding of modern QA practices (automation, CI/CD, risk-based testing, quality gates), hands-on iOS and Android testing experience, and deep familiarity with mobile release cycles (App Store / Google Play, feature flags, A/B testing).
- Technical Background & AI: Solid grasp of Computer Science concepts, hands-on experience with traffic sniffers and gRPC, and practical experience applying AI tools to QA processes.
- Required languages: English, Russian.
